Para a FESTA DOS ANOS DE ÁLVARO DE CAMPOS 2020, Isabel Macieira apresenta mais uma coleção de citações de Fernando Pessoa, semelhante, mas diferente, do trabalho que apresentou em 2019. Quando estive no seu estúdio para ver as obras, ela mostrou-me também uma extraordinária escultura de uma cabra, que “lhe nasceu”, por assim dizer, de um galho seco de árvore. Uma cabra um pouco assustadora.

For the BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR ÁLVARO DE CAMPOS 2020 Isabel Macieira presents another collection of quotes by Fernando Pessoa, similar to, but different from the work she showed in 2019. When I was in her studio to see the work, she also showed me an extraordinary sculpture of a goat, which “she gave birth to”, so to say, from a dry branch of a tree. A goat that was a bit scary.

Lembrou-me a cabra citada no poema Hino a Pã do poeta e mago ocultista Aleister Crowley, que Fernando Pessoa traduziu. 

It reminded me of the goat mentioned in the poem Hino a Pã by the poet and occult magician Aleister Crowley, which Fernando Pessoa translated.

Isabel Macieria aceitou incluir a sua fantástica Cabra na exposição, trazendo para a FESTA, pela primeira vez, esta face ocultista dessas duas celebridades do início do século XX, que partilhavam também um mesmo senso de humor e amor pela ficção. Do encontro dessas personalidades terá surgido a história do suposto suicídio de Aleister Crowley na Boca do Inferno em Cascais, que será sido investigado por um detetive que era, na verdade, mais uma das personalidades literárias de Fernando Pessoa. Isabel criou para a Cabra um pedestal, que traz uma citação do poema Hino A Pã no seu original em inglês e na tradução de Fernando Pessoa para o português. 

Isabel Macieira accepted to include her fantastic Goat in the exhibition, bringing to the FESTA, for the first time, the occult face of these two celebrities of the 20th century, who shared the same sense of humour and love for fiction. From the encounter of those personalities, the story of Crowley’s alleged suicide at the Boca do Inferno in Cascais, arose, a case that would be investigated by a detective who was, in fact, one of Fernando Pessoa’s literary personalities. In her exhibition, Isabel built a pedestal for the Goat, where she writes this quote from the poem Hymn to Pan, in the original English and in the Portuguese translation by Fernando Pessoa.

Isabel Macieira

Nasceu em Lisboa. Viveu em Moçambique, na Arábia Saudita, na Madeira e nos Açores. Vive  em Tavira desde 1985. É Mestre em História da Arte Portuguesa pela Universidade do Algarve. Foi professora de Ed. Visual e Desenho até 2014. Em 2004 tem publicado pela CMT o livro “A Pintura Sacra em Tavira, séculos XV a XX”. Dentro da vertente de estudos e investigação sobre a história local e regional, escreve artigos e entradas para catálogos e participa em colóquios e visitas guiadas. Desenvolve uma carreira como artista plástica desde 1990, com exposições em Portugal e no exterior. Em 2009, funda em Tavira, com Matthijs Warner  a associação de artes plásticas e visuais “Casa5”, ligada à organização de eventos artísticos e culturais.

Born in Lisbon, she lived in Mozambique, Saudi Arabia and the Azores. Lives in Tavira since 1985. She holds a Mater’s Degree in Portuguese Art History form the University of Algarve. She was a teacher of Visual Education and Drawing unti 2014. In 2004 the Câmara Municipal de Tavira published her book “A Pintura Sacra em Tavira, dos séculos 15 a 20”, Within the scopee of studies and research on local and regional history, she writes articles ad catalogue entries and participates in colloquia and guided tours. She has developed a career as a plastic artists since 1990, with exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. In 2000, she founded in Tavira, with Matthijs Warner, the visual arts association “Casa5”, dedicated to the organization of artistic and cultural events.
